Packaging Trends to Look Out for in 2023
Eco-Friendly Inserts
The trend of sustainability in packaging will continue throughout 2023, especially with eco-friendly inserts. While plastic materials such as bubble wrap and foam still serve valuable purposes in packaging, companies may opt for more sustainable materials when applicable. For example, instead of foam inserts to hold products in place, you could use a custom corrugated insert that is 100% recyclable. Other plastic materials can be easily swapped out with newsprint, kraft paper, or crinkle paper.
Bright/Neon Colors
Minimalist packaging has been in for the past few years, however this year we expect to see an increase of bright, neon colors in designs. Tapping into the bold designs of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s creates a sense of nostalgia that appeals to the emotion of consumers.
Corrugated Material
Corrugated material is more eco-friendly compared to other packaging materials like plastic mailers. Corrugated also has many benefits like strength and protection to reduce the risk of damage during transit.
Interior Printing
Custom boxes have become increasingly popular in the past few years. Custom packaging allows companies to create a more memorable customer experience and adds an important element of branding to the marketing mix. In 2023, custom packaging will expand even further, especially with design that serves multiple purposes such as informing the user. It is likely that more custom boxes will have print on not only the exterior, but interior as well. While interior printing does cost more, it allows companies to communicate both brand and product information more cohesively.
